100% Japanese ingredients
Wheat from Agri System in Hokkaido, salt from Naruto Engyo in Tokushima and rice-bran oil from Tsuno Food in Wakayama. Every ingredient is domestic, from producers we know personally.

Wheat, salt and oil — all grown and made in Japan. Hand-stretched over two days by artisans in Handa, Tokushima, for a gentle flavor and a satisfying chew.

In Japan, a label reading "wheat flour (milled in Japan)" usually means imported wheat that was simply milled in Japan — not Japanese-grown wheat.
At Yachiyo Mengyo, we want people who care about where their food comes from to be able to choose with confidence. That's why every ingredient in our noodles is 100% from Japan, and why we tell you who made them and why.

No additives or improvers. Our wheat is not fumigated after milling, and is grown without post-harvest pesticides or neonicotinoids.

ISO 22000 certified, the only organic JAS-certified factory among Handa somen makers, and halal certified.
We only use ingredients from producers whose values we share.
WheatMainly Kitahonami, blended with the rare Hokushin variety stone-milled. Unfumigated, post-harvest-free flour.
Salt100% salt from our neighbors at Naruto Engyo, made from the seawater of the famous Naruto whirlpools using a Japanese membrane-concentration method.
OilOnly about 6% of oil sold in Japan is made from domestic raw materials. We use 100% rice-bran oil pressed from Japanese rice bran by Tsuno Food in Wakayama.

YACHIYO was born about 20 years ago as a somen brand from a local company. In 2020 the maker went bankrupt during the pandemic. Moved by fans asking for its return, we took over the factory, welcomed back the original artisans, and relaunched YACHIYO — now made with 100% Japanese ingredients.

Knead, stretch, rest, and stretch again. Handa's hand-stretching tradition has been passed down for about 300 years, shaped by cold mountain winds and the clear water of the Yoshino River. Our artisans adjust every batch to the day's temperature and humidity, creating thick noodles with a springy chew that stays firm.
For everyday meals and for thoughtful gifts.

ORGANIC100% whole grainRegular flour is milled from only the inner part of the wheat kernel. Whole-grain flour uses the entire kernel, bran and germ included. Our organic somen is hand-stretched from 100% Japanese organic whole-grain flour.
The bran and germ usually removed from white flour stay in, along with the fiber and minerals naturally found in wheat.
A wheat flavor that deepens with every bite, and a gently rustic color unique to whole grain.
Both the ingredients and our factory are organic JAS certified, making it the only organic Handa somen.
Handa somen stays firm even when stir-fried or simmered — perfect for dishes from around the world.

Our official shop carries the full lineup at direct-sale prices.
Available at roadside stations and the airport in Tokushima, antenna shops in Tokyo, and served at restaurants in Japan and abroad.
Hand-stretched somen changes slightly with each day's temperature, humidity and drying — a natural sign of handcraft.
This comes from differences in drying speed and does not affect quality. They look the same once boiled.
One bundle (100 g) is about one adult serving.
Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
